What I’m wrestling with:
Revisions. More on this next time.
What I’m working on:
Revisions.
What I’m researching and thinking about:
Revisions. Haha. Are you seeing a theme here?
What I’m reading:
BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CHRISTMAS by Mary Kay Andrews. This is a cozy, heart-warming book about love, family, and the magic of Christmas. Kerry Tolliver – newly unemployed and newly single – leaves her family’s Christmas tree farm in South Carolina to head to New York City with her gruff older brother and his dog Queenie to sell trees at the family stand in Greenwich Village. Hilarious, romantic, and full of surprises, this is basically the opposite of my Christmas novella. So, when you finish mine and you’re thinking: Why did Lisa Unger ruin Christmas? You can pick up this gem, and the great MKA will set it all right for you.
What I’m watching:
I had lunch with my pal, the brilliant and iconic bestselling R.L. Stine, where he admonished me for giving up on “Only Murders in the Building” which I’d started and failed to get into. “It’s wonderful,” he said, “And—you know—Steve Martin and Martin Short.” Right. I tried it again and this time fell completely in love with this quirky, funny, twisty show on Hulu — especially Selena Gomez. We’re in the second season and completely invested in the characters, the building, and their wacky, murderous neighbors.
